Quarantine of the Emerald Ash Borer has been Expanded Throughout the State of Wisconsin

Wisconsin’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has extended the quarantine of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) throughout the State of Wisconsin.  EAB has been found in 48 of 72 counties.  Many northern counties still do not have EAB.  In the NCWMA, Douglas County has documented EAB occurrences, but Ashland, Bayfield and Iron Counties do not.  DATCP recommends that campers not transport firewood long distances to decrease the rate that EAB spreads.  Property owners should continue to be vigilant in detecting EAB early.  If a property is within 15 miles of an infestation, property owners may wish to treat select trees to prevent EAB infecting them.
