ORDINANCE GOVERNING USE OF CULVERTS
IN TOWN OF BELL

WHEREAS THE TOWN OF BELL HAS BEEN HAVING DIFFICULTIES WITH PEOPLE AND LOGGING COMPANIES IGNORING THE USE OF CULVERTS ON OUR ROADS WHILE IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING OUT PULP AND TIMBER ER AND,

WHEREAS THE RISING COSTS TO THE TOWN OF BELL IN CLEANING OUT SAID DITCHES TO PREVENT ROAD WASHOUTS IN SPRING AND OTHER FLOODING CONDITIONS,

NOW THEREFOR, THE TOWN BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE TOWN OF BELL, COUNTY OF BAYFIELD, AT THE REGULAR TOWN MEETING OF MAY 10, 1988, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1:

NO INDIVIDUAL OR LOGGING COMPANY WILL BE PERMITTED TO TAKE OUT TIMBER OR OTHER WOOD PRODUCGTS OVER A DITCH ADJACENT AND/ OR PARALLEL TO ANY TOWN ROAD IN THE TOWN OF BELL WITHOUT FIRST INSTALLING A SUITABLE CULVERT IN SAID DITCH. (CULVER FIRST MUST BE REMOVED WHEN PROJECT IS TERMINATED). A PERMIT IS REQUIRED FROM THE TOWN OF BELL.

SECTION 11:
BE OT A;SP PRDAOMED THAT NO STOCKPILING OF WOOD PRODUCTS LESS THAN 20’ FROM THE CENTER OF THE ROAD, AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES STOCKPILED IN THE DITCH.

PENALTY: $1200. 00 per violation and/or no. future cutting in the Town of Bell. Will be enforced.

EFFECTIVE: This ordinance goes into effect June 1,1988.
