Town of Bell Planning Commission minutes

Wednesday Oct. 6, 2021

 

Meeting called to order at 4:13

Commissioners present: Mark Ehlers, Dave Tillmans, Greg Weiss, Jackie Eid

Community members present: Phyllis Peri, Nancy Moye, Jayne Norton, Roger Lindgren

Motion to approve previous minutes by Mark Ehlers, second Dave Tillmans Unanimous

Correspondence/Updates: Dynamic Radar Signs: Did last years money carry over. Hwy 13 crosswalk, Bayfield County Administrator: Updates to comprehensive plans.

Sidewalk Ordinance: There was much discussion. Some of the thoughts were,

Strike down and start new

Violations were found but there is no section for enforcement

Come up with a plan for Superior Ave. Any possible development in the future will have this plan to refer to. Not an after the fact discussion

Currently we do not have an application form

Town Attorney is not in favor of “grandfathering” unless pictures are taken to document

How much room do we need for wheelchairs and pedestrians to be able to pass comfortably

With Town owned property why is the Town not doing the repairs

Sidewalk should be on the west side of the street

Recommendation to review each paragraph of each section and make proposed changes and/or additions

 

 

Superior Ave.: Again there was much discussion. Some of the thoughts were:

A Village focused plan

Place for a municipal parking lot

One south end of Superior Ave the painted lines go to far towards the center of the road narrowing access

Will have to show existing residences the need for the upgrades.

The sidewalks and Superior Ave should be worked on together. Sidewalk with curb and gutter would give a definite stop for vehicles parking

Involve a traffic flow/traffic safety expert

November meeting will be moved to Tuesday Nov. 2, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at the Community Center
