TOWN OF BELLBOARD MEETINGTUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2018

7:00 p.m. at the COMMUNITY CENTER 

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.  Board members present were Matt Lazorik,

Janice Olson, James Kaseno, Andrew Sauter Sargent , Jackie Eid and MaryBeth Tillmans.

Lynda  Nedden Durst was absent.

-Board Meeting Minutes- J. Olson made a motion to approve the minutes and J. Eid

2nd the motion.  Approved.

-Treasurer’s Report –J. Eid made a motion to approve the report and J. Kaseno 2nd the motion.  Approved.

 

Public Comment Period

David Trudeau – Requesting that the Town of Bell budget for dust treatment of the highly

populated traveled gravel roads along the Superior an Siskiwit lake shores for the years 2019

forward.

Gina Emily – New liaison for Town of Bell  with CORE

 

Old Business

  1. Comprehensive Plan Survey

The first official meeting was held.  They have several volunteers.  They discussed doing the

survey digital versus paper.  They are leaning towards paper.  Janice  has been in touch with

Jason from Northwest Regional Planning about the survey.  The committee discussed the

old survey and what is considered a resident.  They are looking at the next step of working

on elements.  They will be having two meetings a month.  The goal is to have it done by the

annual meeting.

  1. Community Center Manager job opening

Two people were interviewed for the position.  M.  Lazorik recommended Judy Kerr for the

position and that she should be paid the wage that Bill Dreager was paid.  J. Kaseno made

a motion to hire J. Kerr as the Community Center Manager and J. Eid 2nd the motion.

Unanimous decision.  Approved.

 

New Business  

  1. Swearing in of Planning Commissioner

Mark Ehlers was sworn in as a Planning Commissioner.

  1. Set Dated for Budget Hearing

The dates were set for September 24th and 25th at 6:30p.m..

  1. Contribution to Superior Days-Possible Decision
  2. Sauter Sargent made a motion to approve $100.00 contribution to Superior Days and
  3. Kaseno 2nd the motion. Unanimous decision.  Approved.

 

Committee Reports

Fire Department – There was not a South Shore Ambulance report.  The fire department had

two runs.  One was for a vehicle in the ditch and the other was for an EMS assist.

Roads – The town crew is doing ditching and replacing culverts.  Work is being done on Klemick.

Planning Commission – They discussed the crosswalk on Superior Ave. and State Highway 13.  A

survey was done of pedestrians crossing there as was requested by Dan Bieberitz of Wis.

DOT.

Marina – The area has been very busy.

Parks and Lands/Green Shed – They has a meeting last week with Jason Bodin and Jennifer

Bratsch from Bayfield Co. Forestry and Recreation Department. The yellow house on the

Siskiwit Falls property was taken down.  Plans for the property were passed out.

  1. Sauter Sargent went to a NOAA workshop. They are getting a bid to resurface the tennis courts.

Community Center – It has been very busy.  Maintenance work is being done.  The blinds have been fixed.

Notices/Library – There is nothing for notices.  J. Eid did meet with Roger Peck.  Board members names and numbers will be updated.  The 2018 Meet the Author series has been completed.  They are now working on the 2019 series.  Over $300 was raised at the book sale.

Recycling Center – It has been very busy.  J. Eid did speak with Eagle Waste.  They will look at a possible bid in 2020.

Airport – None

Cornucopia Business Association – None

Scenic Byways Committee-None

Bills were paid.  At 8:10 p.m.,  J. Olson made a motion to adjourn the meeting and J. Eid 2nd the motion.  Approved.
