Town of Bell Parks and Lands Meeting Minutes

July 5, 2022       9:15 am       Cornucopia Community Center

Committee Members Present: Doug Becker, Judy Becker, Gina Emily

Others Present: Judy Kerr

Committee Chair Doug Becker called the meeting to order at 9:17 am.

Old Business:

  1. Approve Minutes: Motion by Judy B, seconded by Doug; passed.
  2. Budget review – no report
  3. Campground
    1. Use update
      1. Kurt Nelson replaced the wornout solar batteries and water is again available.
      2. Two anonymous notes were left about the campground, positive and negative.
  • Men’s toilet lid hinge is damaged. Doug will evaluate for repairs.
  1. $830 collected this month but Judy K. feels use is down.
  1. Vault toilet update
    1. Doug reported that the grant application from the County was not approved.
  2. Siskiwit Lake Boat Launch
    1. Parking & Signs update – several incidents reported by a neighbor and Gina of incorrect parking. Continued monitoring will be made to determine further action.
    2. Donation box collections report – Gina collected $19.85 this month.
  3. Maintenance
    1. Beach restrooms
      1. Plexiglass installation update – Doug will work with Judy K. to install before Cornucopia Day on August 13.
      2. A new soap dispenser has been ordered to replace the damaged one.
    2. Larger Recycling Containers in High Use Areas – no report
    3. Sidewalk Repair Update
      1. A concrete mason would need to repair the tilted section and would need to be done yearly. Doug will evaluate the well overflow drain.
    4. Parking Lot Lighting – Doug will contact Kurt Nelson about installing solar lights.
  1. Other
    1. Kiewit Memorial Tree Update – committee selected a potential location in the front of the Community Center. Gina will speak to Joan Kiewit next week.

New Business:

  1. Community Center Parking Policy
    1. Review of the past P & L minutes by Judy K. shows that there is no policy at this time.
    2. Municipal Parking is needed to resolve this occasional issue.
  2. Campground Large Group reservation request
    1. Doug assisted a large group’s inquiry about advanced reservations.
    2. Without campground hosts nor an on line reservation system, no advanced reservations are possible at this time.
  3. Flowing Well Valve – Matt Hipscher has repaired.
  4. Project Requests to Matt Hipscher before Memorial Weekend
    1. This will be worked on this winter.
