Town Board Votes against Town Ownership of the Siskiwit River Protection Project

After many discussions and weighing of all information and concerns of both the pros and cons of local ownership of the former Swenson and Dorau acres on the Siskiwit River, the Town of Bell Board voted, on October 10th 2017, to postpone indefinitely, the acceptance of the NOAA grant award for the purchase of the property, and to recommend to NOAA to give the award to Bayfield County. At this writing, there is no timeline as to what happens next in regards to this property.  It is still the wishes of the owners of the land that it belong to the public for recreation and conservation and they will continue to work with the Bayfield Regional Conservancy, the County, and Grantors to make this exchange happen.
