Town of Bell Board Meeting Minutes-Tues., June 13, 2023

TOWN OF BELL BOARD MEETING

Tuesday June 13, 2023

7:00 p.m.

at the Community Center

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.  Board members present were Matt Lazorik, Jackie Eid, Jesse Kaseno, Gordon Anderson , MaryBeth Tillmans and Janice Olson. Paul Ehlers was absent.

-Board Meeting Minutes-

  1. Eid made a motion to approve the minutes and J. Kaseno 2nd the motion.

Unanimous decision. Approved.

-Treasurer’s Report –J. Eid made a motion to approve the reports and G. Anderson 2nd the

motion. Unanimous decision. Approved.

 

Board Comments – None

Correspondence– – South Shore Ambulance Auxiliary – They are looking for more volunteers

and EMTs

Committee Reports-Reviewed

Sanitary District – No report.

Public Comments

Deb Pozzi – Problems with ATVs on Stage Road

Marcy Kurland– Concerns about dust from roads

 

Old Business

  1.  Corny Fish Shed Sanitary Hook up- Discussion and decision

Tabled to next month.

  1. Superior Ave speed bumps- Discussion and decision

Eid made a motion to go ahead and work on installing speed bumps on

Superior, with one on each lane.  There was no second.

  1. Green Shed- apply for Historic Building Status- Discussion and decision

Kaseno made a motion to table this until more research is done and J. Eid

2nd the motion. Unanimous decision.

New Business

  1. McConnell class A special use permit- Discussion and decision

They are demoing an existing garage and building a new one.  The permit

is for shoreland grading.  The Planning Commission recommended approval.

Eid made a motion to recommend approval of the permit to the county and

Kaseno 2nd the motion. Unanimous approval.

2. Lueth class A special use STR – Discussion and decision

This was tabled until July.  The closing on the sale of the property has not

happened yet.

  1. ATV/UTV access and speed limits- Discussion

Over the Memorial weekend, there was a lot of ATV traffic.  There were complaints

from area residents.  The sheriff was contacted. There is a new law that the sheriff

can use to enforce speed limits. They will be patrolling more. More signs will be

installed.  There is still a possibility of opening up County Road C to ATVs. J. Eid

will talk to the town’s attorney about creating an ordinance to open County Road

C within the town’s limit.

  1. Parks and Lands committee- 35 acres of town land on Siskiwit Lake, uses and options

to sell- Discussion

G. Anderson made a motion to discuss the sale of the land and J. Eid 2nd the

motion. Discussion was held.  M. Lazorik made a motion not to sell any town land

and J. Eid 2nd the motion.  Vote: (3-Yes, 2-No)  Yes: M. Lazorik, J. Eid, J. Kaseno

No: G. Anderson.  Motion passed.

  1. Approval of liquor license renewals for

Little Nikki’s

The Fat Radish

The Cornucopia Sweet Shoppe

Ehlers Store

The Fish Shed

The Fisherman’s Hideout

Siskowit Farm Store

Star North

Kaseno made motion to approve all licenses and G. Anderson 2nd the

motion. Motion passed. The Fish Shed will have a no alcohol sales after 9:00

p.m. restriction, as per the zoning permit with the Bayfield County Zoning.

At 7:35, J. Kaseno made a motion to adjourn the meeting and P. Ehlers 2nd the motion.  Approved.
